Experiment in VR

Believing immersive experiences from virtual reality will be an integral part of the future of architecture,

Virtual reality as a means of design and showcase design has always been an important aspect of our research.

The experimental project aims to explore virtual reality and inspire its new possibilities.

  • Fixing the chair.

In our introduction scene, users are able to fix the broken chair by watching different videos of Jeff and the trigger objects will go back to their places in the chair.

  • inflating & texture changing.

In our making-art experience, users enter a scene with familiar furniture and household supplies, by keep pushing button down, the texture change into a glossy and reflective style and they inflate to fill spaces of different shape.

Make Art Like Jeff Koons.

Jeff Koons is partial to inflatable sculpture and everyday familiar objects. His work is simple and direct exaggeration which is so obvious and easy to see, giving the audience simple and extreme aesthetic feeling, extreme purity, without any explanation, directly producing shocking power.

In our introduction scene, we choose the chair as the navigating object. Users can watch videos in various ways of Jeff Koons to known him better. In our making-art experience, we enter a scene with familiar furniture and household supplies, by keep pushing button down, the texture change into a glossy and reflective style and they inflate to fill different space. The goal of this interaction is to present a feeling of purity, reminding user of an extreme simple pleasing.

  • Two Part Interaction.

The entire experience has two parts, which includes an AR cooking experience and a VR dining experience.

  • triggering & UI instructing

When users wonder in the kitchen, they would approach to different objects that would trigger UI instructions about the cooking proccess. They will guide users to finish this visual cooking experience step by step.

  • Modeling from dishes.

We chose three chefs of different style and their most representative dishes as examples to showcase our concept of visual dining. We modeled different parts accordingly to make most of their shape, color and texture.

  • Interacting Feast

From the first course to the last one, users can interact with the whole room where there are interactive objects and particle and the color and texture will change accordingly.

Visual Feast.

Eating is a multi-sensory experience. However, much research suggests that it is in fact our eyes leading the way, our tongues merely follow. In our interactions, users enable to see through the process of cooking with AR user interface and re-evaluate the notion of eating as their perception will be augmented by VR experiences as they see and interact with enlarged molecular foods elements.
